Another Brick in the Wall

Today brings an outfit I wore to the cinema last weekend. I actually took these afterwards; I'm always late so any chance of getting pictures beforehand is pretty unlikely.

I think the late hour might have something to do with my weird facial expressions (seriously, these were the best of the bunch!) coupled with the fact that I was a bit too aware of my surroundings.

This is a new photo location you see. It's actually just outside my flat's front door. I wanted to try it out as I like red brick backdrops, trouble is it's sort of in public and I embarrass easy, gahhh.

Oh and if you're interested, I watched World War Z. I thought it was okay. The 'zombies' were pretty scary as they were fast motherfuckers (the worst kind! Bring on the shufflers please if there's ever a zombie apocalypse) but it was a little too Hollywood for a zombie movie if you ask me. The boyfriend wasn't all that impressed as he really loves the book and it's pretty different apparently.

Anyway- enjoy the look!

Célize Bag tank: Unif Clothing
Belt: charity shop
Disco pants: American Apparel
Nike Low Blazers: Get The Label

Check me out in my new Unif top! I've wanted something from Unif for ages but I'd yet to order anything from the U S of A (despite all the cool LA brands I drool over on Instagram daily!) because of the hassle of it all really.

However I couldn't resist when Unif posted up a 30% off code back in May so i snapped up their C√©lize Bag top.

It was still fairly pricey, took what seemed like forever to come and then when it did, I had a customs fee to pay but it was so worth it- it's awesome.

Even though it's all intentionally distressed and covered in holes and probably looks like something you'd find in a skip, it's actually a really nice quality and soft thanks to the Modal mix fabric.

And was I the last to know about Glamorous stocking Unif? Excellent news but there's like nothing left now, boo! Does anyone know if they're restocking?

Obligatory face shot. Don't know what's going on in these pictures, my head looks massive!

Let me know what you think of the brick wall.

Oh and P.S. another friendly request to add me on Bloglovin' if you enjoy reading my blog as Google Reader is in its final hours

It's not ideal as I've neglected Bloglovin' in the past and many have suggested that Google Friend Connect won't be around much longer which isn't great news to all the bloggers who've worked really hard to build up their following.

Anyway if you fancy giving me a follow on Bloglovin', be sure to leave a link to your own in my comments and I'll return the favour!

Home Sweet Home

I've been a bit shit on the blogging front again, sorry about that.

I've had loads of exciting stuff come through my emails recently so I'm hoping I'll have lots more to share in the next few weeks.

Last weekend I went home (North Yorkshire) to for Father's Day so had the opportunity to take a few snaps in the picturesque surroundings; one of the up sides to living in the middle of nowhere!

Lion head earrings- eBay (here)
Lion Head necklace- eBay (here)
Black crop tee- Primark
Vintage skirt- swapped with friend
Oversized denim jacket- charity shop
Belt- charity shop
Bag- charity shop
Boots- Dr Martens

Couldn't resist taking a cheesy picture with the old phone box in our back yard!

How pretty is my skirt? Not sure it's all that me but love it all the same. This was part of my haul from a 'swap' night my friend hosted. Such a good idea! We were all like giddy kids rifling through each others' stuff in a big mound on the floor.

I love my chunky gold 80s-inspired lion head jewellery. I picked both of these up from eBay. You can get them for something ridiculous like 99p each from Chinese sellers but I wanted them to arrive more quickly so got my earrings here and necklace here.

I recently bought all the kit (really cheaply, about £25) to do Shellac gel nails at home and the above are my first attempt.  They turned out really well. I've just soaked these off and they lasted two weeks which is fab for me as it's a bit of a running joke among friends that I can never be arsed to do my nails! Let me know if you'd like a post on these with a tutorial and where to get the bits from.

Also got a pic with my Pops! Hope this embarrasses him as I know him and my mum sneakily read my blog- the devils!

Did you have a nice Father's Day?

South Beach Blog Party

I thought I'd share another event that I've been at recently, though this one's a bit special as it was organised by little old me!

I don't think I've really mentioned work much on my blog but for anyone who might be interested, I work for an imports/wholesale company who supply lots of high street and online clothing and accessories shops. My title is Website Coordinator which, let me tell you, covers a hell of a lot!

We do a lot of swimwear so last year decided to launch a brand; South Beach- who do lots of gorgeous colourful biknis, swimsuits kaftans and cover-ups. Definitely check them out if you're going away somewhere hot this summer.

As Website Coordinator I've been very much involved with promoting the launch handling all the marketing, website, social yadda yadda... SO deciding to put my lovely blogger contacts to good use, I organised a blog event!

It was held at the fabulous Frurt frozen yogurt shop in Spinningfields, Manchester. We thought it would be really fitting and summery; and frozen yogurt is reasonably healthy right? (I'm justifying adding Hershey's Cookies and Creme chocolate to mine that way) So perfect if you're trying (and failing) to get bikini ready this summer like me.

I was flapping around the office like a mad person on the day, packing goody bags, cleaning glasses and generally panicking that no one would turn up- all made worse when the sky turned grey and it poured down, Manchester style! Luckily, like some divine miracle, as soon as we got there the sun came out which looked amazing shining through the big glass front of the shop.

Most importantly, people came.

Here are some of the photos I took (as the 'official' photographer haha).

My strawberry prosecco bellinis

I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar- true story. Having been a barmaid for a number of years comes in handy from time to time in life, as witnessed above with my yummy strawberry prosecco bellinis (very easy to make) which I think went down pretty well!

Lovely bloggers Amy ( Clara (, Victoria ( and Rosy (

Gorgeous ladies Sindy (, Lily ( Martyna ( and Ashleigh (

Martyna (, Lily ( and Lola/Fikki (
Beaut ladies Megan (, Charlotte (, Danielle ( and Frances (

Frances (, Joanna (, Danielle ( and Lola (

And the only picture of me on the night below.

Me: T shirt- vintage shop in Manchester; Jeans- American Apparel; Brooklyn T-bar wedges- Jeffrey Campbell

With, of course, the lovely Sarah of Fashion Dotty- she looked amazing!

I also stuck the Vita Coco cabinet on the side (it's not all distorted and pink and surrounded by stars in real life- though it should be) as I thought these guys deserved a mention. I'm not all that keen on the plain coconut water but the staff at Frurt made us some UH-mazing fruity mocktails with this stuff and they were to die for! They also set up a beachy deckchair and palm tree for us which you might have seen as a prop in some of the bloggers' posts.

There's a few more pictures of the event here too.

Sorry for anyone I've missed pictures of, it got quite busy at one point and there wasn't much room to get down to the bottom of the venue with my camera. I know in particular Rosie and Maria, I didn't seem to get you!

I had such a stressful good time organising the event; I can't remember who said it but one of the girls said to me on arrival that it must be like organising your own birthday party- you can't enjoy yourself until you're actually there which I could definitely identify with!

Big thanks to Frurt and Vita Coco for giving us all something lovely to eat/drink and HUGE thanks to all of the bloggers who took time out of their days to come down and check it out. From the bottom of my heart, I was really touched by the turnout and the lovely feedback on the event and range.

If you want to see what any of the bloggers thought, try searching #SouthBeachBlog party on Twitter for posts and also on Instagram too for pictures.

Much love,
